The Joe Martin race was a success overall. I had an OK time trial to
start out the week then finished in the front group in both the 110
and 92 mile road races. Actually, in all we did 202 miles in a 16 hour
period. Troy Wells and I drove straight from the second road stage to
Shannon's graduation at the University of Arkansas, then directly to
the after party. We kept ourselves under control in the party scene in
preporation for the next days final crit.
The only thing I had going for me was a third row start in the crit.
After that I fell backwards quickly with tired legs and no power. I
only lasted about 20 minutes of the race then just rode strong until
getting pulled. I finished the week in 52nd out of 102 in the Pro-1
field. Overall I was happy with the week, being only my second race
of the year it went well.
Now I'm at the lake with Shannon, Wells and Jill. Wells and I have
already gotten in 2 solid rides while the ski boat and adult beverages
try to distract us. I begin the Tour of Arkansas on Thursday and it
sounds like I have more sweet host housing coming my way!
Also, I'm no longer moving to LA for the summer. After considering the
location of the remaining races and several other major factors it
made more since to stay in LR. Yippy.
