Back in Durango
(Notice the odometer, one day baby, all in one day)
I made the trip back straight through at 14 1/2 hours and a bit over 1000 miles. It was a long day in the "saddle." It's funny what you begin to thing about when you get close to your destination. When I got to New Mexico it was "ok, Mountain time zone." When I got to Albuquerque it was "well we come this far for a weekend race." When I got to within 45 miles it was "I have ridden to this place on a silly bicycle." Finally I began dropping into Durango and seeing the light pollution of the town but of course with its size it could just be the bathroom light was left on in my house.
I am getting back into the groove of things my visiting the thrift stores, tubbing the Animas River and mountain bike racing.
Today was the Durango Dirt Lovers race. I did the 18 mile single speed category. I was surprised at how fast the single speed is, by default that you cant go slow or your legs are not spinning fast enough and you tip over. Todd Wells won the overall and Travis Brown won the single speed. I took 3rd in my category.
School starts Monday, poop.
