(L-R Shannon, Dee Dee, Hannah at last years new years party at Dee Dee's home)
Sometimes life has an exclamation point pop up, it stops you in your tracks, it makes you really think about things, like life itself. When I got the call my Grandma Dee Dee died I learned this first hand. She passed away Thursday March 29, 2007 almost two weeks after having a stroke in her house. After 91 years she has had and made a lot of great memories for our entire family. What I will remember most is being dropped off at here house for the night when I was about ten years old. She would make the best iced tea and I can thank her for getting me into health food early with her simple yet delicious salads of lettuce, onion, carrots and bell pepper. Nope, no dressing needed.

Right now I am still in Phoenix, Arizona for the NORBA National mountain bike race. Friday morning was our six mile time trial. The only factor slowing everyone down was the amount of turns, the longest straight away was only about 100 meters, which was the start through the parking lot. I finished with a time of 21:57 putting me in 27th place out of 55 racers. Hopefully the fat tire crit will go a little better tonight. It is in downtown Fountain Hills at 8:00pm, hopefully there will be a nice crowd too.

I will not be racing the cross country, but flying to New York City for Dee Dee’s funeral and to be with mom, dad, Hannah and Kate. We are going to Little Rock for a memorial service on Friday, then all driving out to Durango for some family time together.
