Lets backtrack a few days; Wednesday (6/3) was the Ronde Van Burns crit series. Our company is putting the race on, and naturally we rolled to the line with a solid team of a half-dozen. The 60 minute race began with a break away, but was eventually brought back. Kris French and I were somehow 'expected' to dual it out, and that's exactly what happend. We literally attacked the field at the exact same time, and just went with it. To be clear, neither of us attacked first, with the other one following, rather we attacked at the same moment. He and I got a huge gap on the field thanks to my team shutting it down and us hammering down. Five laps later it came down to a sprint, and I held him off in what turned out to be my fastest eve sprint to date. 40 MPH on flat ground (perhaps a slight tailwind).
Here is a video of the finish:
Shannon is gone for the weekend, down to New Orleans to lots of fun wedding stuff. Various food tastings, seeking out chocolate brown tuxedos, hanging with family and of course eating crawfish. Me, I stayed home to hold down the fort. On Saturday I will finally do the Ouachita Vista Trail. It should be a good 3 hours of fresh singletrack. I can't wait.
