February 28th, 2009. Thor Hushovd wins Het Volk. And does so an a Cervelo S2...

It has been way to long since I dedicated a good minute to my blog. While I'm not racing, it's hard to find quality material that others can enjoy and follow. March is almost here, warmer temperatures are around the corner (despite the sleet/snow falling right now), and more exciting material will begin churning any day now.

I plan to get back in the pack, and back in the singletrack in the coming weeks. The weather has been brisk and work has been hot n' heavy, that combo keeps my bike stay pretty clean. Speaking of a clean bike, I finished building up my new Cervelo S2 about an hour ago. Two words; Sex E. It's beautiful of course, and from what I felt while sprinting in our warehouse it likes to ge the hell out of Dodge. The internal cables are a total bitch to setup, but considering its done only a few times a year I won't bash it too hard.

Thor on his way to victory. These are the same roads I suffered on while riding the Tour of Flanders in 2008.

The plan was to wake up and ride 130 miles today with the owners of Competitive Cyclist and a few good friends. The budgeted time was 8 hours with lots of wind, I was somewhat motivated. However once the weather moved in last night, and I didn't finish my bike I had a self perscribed doctors note. Turns out the boys left this morning but were back in an hour, after sleet and freezing rain moved in. I am happy I opted for the extra sleep instead.

I just spoke with my buddy Zach Martin who went down to the Lago Vista road race in Texas. Apparently it was very fast and very windy with some big guns in the pack. Did you know Heath Blackgrove and Chris Wherry are riding for Hotel SanJose, what a change from Toyota United just last year! That is a true sign of the economy of racing, ouch. On the other hand that means they most likely be at more local races and speed them up to a national level pace.
