I have officially jumped headfirst into the training pond. I’ve done three separate races in five days, which also includes two motor pacing sessions and a crit in 24 hours. After taking a week off the speed and power have come back mighty fast though. I was flying incognito at my first CARVE summer crit of the summer while wearing my LaGrange kit but working with my trusty Competitive Cyclist crew. We were all active throughout the day and I ended up taking the win to make it all worth while.
About an hour after the crit Shannon, Chris and I were in the car heading up North to St. Louis for the annual “Big Money” Tour de Winghaven. I had better luck last year than this edition, as I rode 20 of the 25 laps composing the 75 mile race. The 95 degree temps and two breakaways up the road talked me into pulling with out with 15 miles to go. That’s the major problem with that circuit race, we pass the custard shop every 6.5 minutes which is within a water bottles throw of the start/finish/pull out and get custard line.
Chris had a better day then my self, taking home the K.O.M in the 3-4 race. For that he won the Baker’s whicker/liquor basket of fun. Chris Wallace of KC, MO got a top five in the same race, aint to shabby for a 16 year old.
Last nights crit was pretty fun in Burns park as Competitive Cyclist rolled 7 deep looking for the big W. I flated with four laps to go, thankfully a cool guy named Jim at the start/finish let me take the wheel off his bike so I could finish. By the time I got back in there was a big break and I did all I could to make it half way across. Hunter East won, and yes he has been training despite what he says.
Shannon says hi.
Bobby McMullen is the man. The full movie is titled "The Way Bobby Sees It" and you can buy it here. You can see the trailer below if you don't wanna take my word for it.
