Going back to my roots.
(Here is an old picture from my Junior Expert NORBA days at Mt. Snow, VT)
I've always known the MTB scene has much more friendly people and a personal vibe all the way around, but it really came out today. Bell & Company had a huge set up and were giving out free burgers, hotdogs and all the fixings. Even though I finished one spot out of the prize money, I loved hanging around with all the hold faces and shooting the shit for about two hours after the race. Man that NEVER happens at a road race, its just bashing everyone else for how poopy you did.
Ok, I will get off my rant, but for the record this is all stuff I would say to any road crew, I mean its a fact. With that said I do love the road scene, just in different ways, and I am looking forward to heading up to Boston on Thursday to begin the Fitchburg Classic.

I suited up on Sunday for my first mountain bike race since October '07, and boy did it feel like it. My "mud bike" arsenal is down to just the single speed, so thats what I rode, but in the Expert/Pro classes rather than the smaller single speed category. After a good start I was sitting in second place then blew a corner and five guys passed me all at once, but I had it coming. I actually felt pretty good on the technical stuff and just rode my own race. Luke Porter took top honors sprinting ahead of Chris Renshaw of the Trek regional team.
