(Here is the making of NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command. It is right next to the hill climb. A military complex completely inside of a mountain and sitting on over sized industrial springs to withstand...well, anything.)
Colorado College Criterium
Well today we were supposed to have a 3.1 mile hill climb here in Colorado Springs. We got a call at 5:00am with the race supposed to start at 7:00 and it had been canceled due to snow on the road. YAY! we got two sleep three more hours, and still do the Crit at noon. Jared Pitroski and I left early and went ahead to the hill climb and got in one run as a warm up, we then got confused and ended up riding 30 miles, all before the start of the crit when we should have ridden about 7 to get there.
The race went well and an was one of the coolest/fastest crit courses I have done, all on the Colorado College campus with hundreds of hippies cheering us on. I ended up getting on preme lap and 3rd in the sprint. Jordan got 5th and Chris Kuhl was still up there after pulling the entire field for the last two laps. A Colorado State rider won with Keil, from Colorado Univeristy in second.
After Kuhl and I made a manditory stop at Chipotle for a burrito before riding another two hours looking at mansions and doing the hill climb one more time. After this five hour day I hope there is still some gas in the tank for the 72 mile, very hilly road race tomorrow. I hear there is a two kilometer climb every lap, we are doing six laps. Thanks for reading. -Noah
